I remember a few days ago, I realised I was extremely stressed. My work load was enormous and I had enough commitments burning a hole in my brain and all I wanted to do was relax. I did a quick Internet search on the subject and I noticed something. Most of the articles talked about what to do after you are already stressed, it gave advice like watch t.v and play sports. I soon realized that my problem was a bit different. What I needed to do was cut the stress way before it happened which is far more healthy and effective. As the saying goes, "prevention is better than cure"
Here are 7 ways to effectively reduce your stress and lead a healthier lifestyle.
1. Identify what stresses you: Make a list of whatever stresses you during a typical day. Whether it friends, family or work, just write it down.
2. Get rid of any unnecessary commitments: Every man has commitments, be it school, work, family, friends. Sometimes it is just not possible to keep up with all of them. What you should do is identify which are the most important commitments and eliminate the rest.
3. Get Organized: I know at times you may just feel lazy to clean up after yourself. It's perfectly natural. The problem comes in when you decide to look for something very important then you realize that you cant find it. This can be very stressful so take the time to get yourself organised and you definitely be much happier with the result.
4. Work On Time Management: Do not wait till the last minute to complete a task especially if it has a deadline. This can be very stressful. So complete all your tasks on time and in a reasonable time period.
5. Multitasking: Multitasking may seem very productive because we feel like we are accomplishing a lot of tasks simultaneously. One thing you don't understand is that it actually slows you down from actually completing a task. Like the saying goes "Jack of all trades but master of none"
6. Relax: You can either take a series of short breaks or take one long break during your work hours. All you have to do is relax and temporarily forget all the stressful things in your life.
7. Avoid Difficult People: You know who they are. If you take a minute to think about it, you can identify all the people in your life — bosses, coworkers, customers, friends, family, etc. — who make your life more difficult. Now, you could confront them and do battle with them, but that will most certainly be difficult. Just cut them out of your life.
